- Configurations: Available in 2-track or 3-track systems. A 2-track can carry up to 4 panels (2 sliding + 2 fixed), while a 3-track can carry up to 6 panels (e.g., 3 slide behind 3 fixed or all 6 stack to one side in a twin-track dual meet configuration). This flexibility allows very wide openings or a design where two-thirds of the opening can be open at once.
- Inline vs Lift & Slide: The standard is inline sliding – you unlock and slide the door in one motion. We also offer an upgraded lift-and-slide mechanism: turning the handle lifts the door slightly off its seals, allowing ultra-smooth motion and the ability to stop it anywhere. Lift-and-slide also provides a tight seal when closed and often can give higher weather ratings.
- Tracks and Thresholds: Robust aluminium double or triple track threshold with stainless steel or anodized running rails for longevity. The threshold can be low-profile (with slight ramp) for flush internal floors. It is fully drained – water that enters the track weep holes is channeled out. Optionally, a soft-close mechanism is available to prevent panels from slamming (good for young families).
- Hardware: Each sliding panel has a multi-point lock engaging into the jamb (typically hooks or mushroom cams) and a secure interlock engagement. Internal locking handles come in various finishes (white, black, chrome, etc.), with exterior key-lock options. We use high-quality tandem rollers that can be adjusted for perfect alignment. For larger units, heavy-duty rollers and additional intermediate locks are used to maintain security.
- Performance: The system is designed for exposed locations – rated to severe weather standards (in tests, up to 600 Pa water tightness and high wind loads). It’s also one of the few sliding doors in its class that is fully Document Q compliant when needed (PAS24 security with an upgraded glass unit). Thermal performance with standard double glazing meets or exceeds current regulations, and with triple glazing (up to 38 mm units) can reach extremely low U-values around 1.1 W/m²K for new builds.
